Google Search Console finally lets you group countries in one report

Google has updated Search Console’s Performance report so you can select multiple countries and see their combined Google Search traffic. The change gives sites operating across several markets a way to examine those countries together inside the dashboard.

Google Search Central announced the update on LinkedIn on October 6. Its example shows Brazil, Japan and the United Kingdom selected in the same Country filter, with an Apply button beneath the list.

Choose the countries you want to track together

In Search Console, open Performance > Search results, add or open the Country filter, tick the countries you want to include and select Apply. The selected countries form a combined view of Search performance over your chosen date range.

Google also mentions device analysis in its announcement, although the shared screenshot demonstrates the country selector. The post gives no detailed rollout timetable.

A global traffic total can hide trouble in your main markets

For a publisher selling advertising mainly to audiences in the US, UK and Canada, a combined view of those countries can answer a more useful question than the sitewide total. Growth elsewhere might keep overall clicks looking healthy while traffic in those three markets falls. Grouping them makes that decline easier to spot.

Keep the individual country breakdown in view, too: growth in one selected market can offset a fall in another. Google’s filtering documentation still describes the older approach of comparing two countries, highlighting the practical change introduced by the new selector.

If you are also investigating image-led searches, SEW’s guide to the Search Console multimodal filter explains how to inspect that traffic separately.

Google Search Console updates country filter

Google Search Console updates country filter

Google Search Console has updated its performance report filters. Users can now analyze traffic patterns across different countries and devices more easily.

Google Search Central posted about this on LinkedIn along with a screenshot and wrote:

“Today we’re updating the Search Console performance report filters to make it easier for you to analyze traffic patterns across different countries and devices. If you operate in multiple countries, you can now view their combined Google Search traffic. Try it out!”

Here is the screenshot shared.

I think this is a genuinely helpful feature for businesses operating in multiple countries. Being able to view combined traffic data across countries makes it much easier to analyze performance without manually combining separate reports.

Bing tests blue underline and magnifying glass icon on tab menu

blue underline

Bing is testing a new styling for its All tab menu. Normally, the tab appears in black text. However, I noticed it now appears with a blue underline and a magnifying glass icon instead of the usual black styling.

I spotted this today.

Here is a screenshot showing the blue underline with the magnifying glass icon.

Here is what the normal styling looks like.

Bing has been testing several changes to its tab menu and header recently, and this could be part of that broader pattern. A blue underline with an icon like this could help draw more attention to the active tab.

Google appears to reduce AI answers in People Also Ask

Google appears to reduce AI answers in People Also Ask

We previously covered a report showing Google’s People Also Ask answers are now nearly 100% AI-generated, but based on what I’m seeing today, that doesn’t appear to be fully accurate anymore, or at least not consistently. I checked AI Overviews across several searches “cushions,” “headphones,” “shoes,” “today’s news,” and others and couldn’t find a single AI-generated FAQ answer in People Also Ask for any of them.

Here is a screenshot.

This is simply based on what I’m personally seeing today, so it’s possible Google tested a higher percentage of AI-generated answers previously and has since scaled it back, or this could just be inconsistent across different queries. Either way, for the searches I tried, I couldn’t find any AI-generated People Also Ask answers.

Have you checked your own People Also Ask results recently?

Google tests new sitelink design for ads on desktop

new sitelink design for ads on desktop

Google is testing another new sitelink design, this time specifically for ads on desktop. We’ve recently covered several sitelink design variations, but most of those were spotted on mobile. This new design appears to be a desktop-specific test.

Here is a screenshot of this.

Personally, I like this test. It shows the sitelinks on the right side, with the description displayed on the left side within the same row.
